Cape Verde inaugurates the factory of tiles from the recycling of plastics

A unit of production of ceramic tiles, from the recycling of plastics, already operates in the town of Penedo Window, in the municipality of Paul, on the island cape verde Santo Antão, found the PANA, Saturday, authoritative source.

This is an initiative of the Foundation of the Friends of Paul, in the Netherlands, which should be extended to other islands of Cape Verde, the start for Santiago, where there is a lot more recyclable material.

In statements to the agency and the cape verdean news (Inforpress), the president of this non-Governmental Organization, Maria Teresa Secret, realçaou the importance of this project from the environmental point of view, but also economic, since it will boost the economy and generate many jobs.

“We will collect all types of plastic and clean up Cape Verde”, stressed Maria Teresa Secret, considering this is also a way to give work to young people who, currently, are on unemployment.

She recalled that projects identical have already been done, with success, in several african countries, by the Foundation of the Friends of Paul Holland believes that what is being implemented in Paul, that still involves some other associations linked to the environment in Cape Verde, “has everything to go right”.

This first unit of production of ceramic tiles, from the recycling of plastics, which represents an investment of around four million cape verde escudos (about 37 thousand euros), was funded by the Cooperation the Dutch, through the University Tu Delf, in Rotterdam.

In Santo Antão, the Foundation of the Friends of Paul in the Netherlands has been implementing other social projects, with emphasis to the creation of a nursing home, an emergency center for children and vocational training centre for young people, all in the municipality paulense.
